From August 1st to September 5th, select Houston Area Restaurants in Harris, Galveston, and Montgomery Counties will support the Annual Houston Restaurant Weeks. Established in 2003 by Cleverly Stone, host of “The Cleverly Show”, millions of dollars have been raised to fight hunger in Houston. Organized entirely by volunteers, One hundred percent of donations raised from participating restaurants in these counties will go directly to the Houston Food Bank.
Galveston County Food Bank and Montgomery County Food Bank are part of the Houston Food Bank’s Partner Distribution Organization. This means that donations made to the Houston Food Bank provides food to these smaller food banks, which in turn distribute the food to hunger relief charities in the Food Bank’s service area.
How Does It Work?
Participating restaurants offer a special menu, with set prices of $20 or $25 per person for lunch or brunch, and $35 or $45 per person for dinner. A donation of $3 per lunch and $4 per brunch, and a donation of $5 or $7 per dinner are given to the Houston Food Bank.
There is no additional solicitation for donations, leaving diners to enjoy their meals. A donation of $3 provides nine meals, $4 provides twelve meals, $5 provides fifteen meals, and $7 provides twenty-one meals.
